In 2007 Norman Foster celebrated 40 years of independent practice. The book features 40 of Foster's most important projects, together with 40 themes that have consistently underpinned his work. Echoing the spirit of Foster's architecture, the book itself is designed around a pioneering format which allows the content to be accessed interactively. This innovative volume provides an extraordinary view into the ideas that drive Foster's seemingly inexhaustible creative energy.

The book has been awarded an iF Communication Design Award and has been included in “The most beautiful German books” by the Stiftung Buchkunst. In addition, Foster 40 has been nominated for The Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany. The country‘s highest distinction in the field of design, it is also known as the 'award of awards'. Entries cannot be submitted directly but are selected from winners of other national award schemes.
