Photographic Portrait Prize 2016 Catalogue, National Portrait Gallery

The ninth edition of the catalogue for the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize has seen some subtle changes in the way the selected photographs are being showcased.

Much like the previous eight editions, the 2016 catalogue lauds the winners and photographs shortlisted for the exhibition. However, each photograph is now accompanied by a short caption that gives an insight into the photographer’s history and inspiration for the photograph lending a layer of meaning to the works that furthers the understanding of the artists’ intentions. A most welcome addition to a series of publications that represents a unique record of contemporary portraiture.
